Edward "Jim" Kunz, 81, of Manitowoc, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born on May 20, 1941 to the late Clarence and Edna (Behlow) Kunz in Two Rivers. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1959.

On November 13, 1963, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Geigel at Holy Innocents Catholic Church.

His love of woodworking started at Hamilton Industries. Jim had owned and operated Kunz Building Service for many years. In 1966, he started a 31-year career as an officer with the Manitowoc Police Department from where he retired in 1997. Jim then went on to become a school bus driver with Brandt Busses until 2022. He was an active member of AA and very proud of his 21 years of sobriety, which he maintained throughout his battle with cancer. Jim was part of Cabin #1, where he enjoyed deer hunting with friends, his son and grandson. He also enjoyed fishing, trapping and canoeing. Jim found joy in taking care of the birds, deer and critters that visited his backyard.

Survivors include Jim's wife of 59 years, Mary; three children, Kathy (Jeff) Bonin, Manitowoc; Jimmy (Ellen) Kunz, Manitowoc; and Julie (Greg) Baldwin, Midland, MI; six grandchildren, Cassandra Bonin, Justin (Emma) Bonin, Josephine Kunz, U.S. Army Sgt.
