She was raised on various farms in the Lexington area. She and her brother, Glenn, helped to raise sheep and pigs while also working in the corn and beet fields. Ruth was well known and recognized for her ability to raise Nebraska (Aksarben) 4-H champion sheep.
Ruth graduated from Lexington High School and attended Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart College in Omaha Ne., where she earned her B.A. in Home Economics. After starting her teaching career, Ruth married LV Conner, the love of her life, on June 8, 1957, was married for over 66 years and raised two children, Marcia and Brad, while living in Arnold, Ne. During her long career in education, most of it employed by Callaway Public School District, she was recognized in 1979 as the Nebraska Home Economics Teacher of the Year.
Ruth was a devoted Catholic Christian and was active in St. Agnes Catholic Parish in Arnold, and some of her many activities included: American Legion Auxiliary, Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, and Meals on Wheels volunteer. Some of her fondest memories were time spent with both family and friends and traveling in the U.S. and abroad.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, L.V., a son, daughter, three granddaughters, two sister in laws, and many very special family members.
Rosary will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arnold, Nebraska on Saturday, March 25th, 9:00 am, followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 am. Graveside services will be immediately following mass and all are invited to attend the funeral reception at St. Agnes.
