Jon T. Niemer, 44, of 2414 Marshall St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, April 28, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Private services will be held Thursday at Urbanek and Schlei Pfeffer and Reinbold Funeral Chapel, Manitowoc. Rev. Margaret Wright will officiate with cremation following services.
Mr. Niemer was born April 4, 1942 at Manitowoc, son of Ambrose and Helen Niemer. He grew up and was educated in Manitowoc, graduating from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1960. Mr. Niemer served with the United States Army from 1961-1964 and then worked for Manitowoc Engineering Company from 1964 until his disability retirement in 1983. He married Eve Marie Gotchy on June 15, 1963 at Manitowoc. Mr. Niemer was a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Local 516 and also the local American Legion Post.
Survivors include his wife, Eve; three daughters, Theresa, Debra and Alicia Niemer, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Niemer of Menchalville; two brothers, William and Robert Niemer of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
