Ludvig Frederik Henrik Brockenhuus-Schack (1825-1906) was county commissioner for Svendborg County for 38 years. In 1848 he became the first elected Danish Prime Minister. In 1851 he took the Schleswig legal exam and was appointed bailiff in Husby and Ny herreder. In 1853 he was transferred to Eckernförde herred. 1856-1859 he was acting mayor of the town of Eckernførde in addition to his position as bailiff. In 1860 he was appointed county commissioner for Tønder and Løgumkloster counties. In addition to his service as county commissioner, he held a number of positions of trust. He was chairman of the board of representatives of Svendborg Bank 1872-1906 and for many years chairman of the board of representatives of the South Funen railway company. From 1887-1892 he was a Member of Parliament for the Ærø constituency, where he represented the party Højre. Throughout his long service, he received a large number of appointments and decorations. In 1866 he became chamberlain and shortly before his death Gehejmekonferensråd. He was also a Knight in the Order of the Dannebrog. In 1904, the city honored him by erecting a bronze statue in front of the then town hall.
