LUTHER AUSBON BAXLEY, US ARMY WW I, Died of lobar pneumonia and swine flu in South Carolina at Fort Jackson, a few months after going into the Army during World War I. He was married to Lula Virginia Beckham at the time of his death. After Luther died, she married Henry Tilton Allen.

Luther was raised by his unmarried natural mother Mollie's Baxley parents, John Christopher and Martha Jane Sherouse Baxley, so he took the Baxley surname. His biological father was a Reason Albert Parker (see 1880 census Alachua County Florida) but he was identified as the son of John Christopher Baxley, even in many family and military records, so we do not think he ever knew the correct facts himself, as the grandparents protected him into adulthood.
