James Forrest Long and Sarah Ann 'Dodson'
Long. She was their first born child.
She was raised in McMinn County, attending
the school close to her parents home and
also studied at the Academy in Riceville.

Emma never married and for the greater
part of her life, after attending school,
she moved back with her parents. Her
mother, Sarah, was not in good health
and needed help.
Emma was the only daughter and the
oldest, so she cared for her mother till
her death in 1925. She took care of the
household duties and care her parents.
In 1936, Emma had a stroke and was very
ill for sometime before she died.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
