John E. Meyer, 48, of Hess Avenue, Fairmont, died Saturday evening at Fairmont General Hospital. He was born June 21, 1936, at Davis, a son of Mary Frances Eubank Meyer and the late H.A. Meyer.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Snider Meyer; two step-sons, David Gwynn of Columbus, Ohio, and Jay Gwynn of Fairmont; two step-daughters, Susan Gwynn and Mrs. Beth Watkins, both of Fairmont; two brothers, Fred Meyer of Davis and Buddy Meyer of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Nancy Meyer of Davis, Susan Meyer of Falls Church, Va., and Barbara Heisley of Virginia; four step grandchildren, Matthew, Brandi and Jason Gwynn of Columbus, and Michael Watkins of Fairmont.
He attended Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church. He was formerly employed at Richter Motors of Morgantown. He was a member of the Fairmont Moose Lodge and the Acacia Lodge 157 Fairmont AF&A Masons. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Wheeling and was 32nd degree Mason.
Friends may call at the R.C. Jones Funeral Home, 1410 Country Club Road, from 1-5 p.m. Monday and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Thomas Clyde officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
