PEORIA - Clarence C. "Buddy" Chaney, age 67, of Peoria passed away at 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at Manor Care at Riverview in East Peoria.

He was born on April 14, 1940 in Peoria to Dewey and Neva Willis Chaney.

Clarence was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He married Elsie J. Eggers on May 1, 1981, in Peoria. She preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2008.

Clarence was employed by Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years prior to his retirement.

He was a life member of Second Baptist Church in Peoria and a member of the Eagles Lodge 265 and United Auto Workers Local 974.

Clarence is survived by his children, Ricky (Melissa) Chaney of Peoria, Neva (Mitchell) Mayes of Berea, Ky., Teresa Chaney and Angela (Ira) Smith, both of Savannah, Ga.; one stepson, Harold Marty Henricks of Peoria; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Rhoda Cox of Peoria, Viola Kauzlarich of Trivoli, Dorothy Reffett of Peoria and Joyce (Oscar) Johnson of Peoria. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services for Clarence will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Maitland officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Walkers Grove Cemetery in Easton, Ill.
