Jack first married Frances; they had three children, but subsequently divorced. Jack went on to marry several more times but had no other children. Jack's cremains were returned home to Michigan for burial on April 7, 2006.

Jack served honorably in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. During his career he served in World War II as well as in the Korean War; and in the Air National Guard during the Vietnam War.
