John Melvin Clark, 87, of Frankfort, IN, passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on March 30, 2023. He was born on November 29, 1935 in Frankfort, IN to William and Ethel (Ambers) Clark. On December 26, 1961, he married Gloria J. Pyatt. She survives.

John attended Frankfort Senior High School. He worked several jobs through the years including caretaker at Bunnell Cemetery for 4 years, then Ramey's Vault Company for 10 years. He then worked for Federal Mogul for over 24 years until his retirement. John was a member of Woodside Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #976 and Union Stewart for UAW Local 1949. He was a charter member of the Frankfort Main Street board that started the Hot Dog Festival. John enjoyed playing volleyball on his lunch break at Federal Mogul in the rain, snow or sun, enjoyed writing poems, listening to George Jones, bowling, pitching horseshoes at Dorner Park, and traveling with his wife. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Along with his wife of 62 years, John is survived by three children; one sister; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings - Mildred Bushman, Dora Clark, Bob Clark, Tom Clark and Mary Catherine Suddarth.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 1 PM until the time of the service at 3 PM at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Alan Downing will officiate. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery.
