A former Northbrook resident, the Rev. George Walter, was laid to rest in North Northfield cemetery, Dundee road, last Friday. The Rev. Mr. Walter succumbed to a heart attack the preceding Tuesday at his home in Richland Center, Ill. He was 69 years of age. During his youth and as a young man, the Rev. Mr. Walter resided on Walter avenue here. He occupied many important positions in the Evangelical church during his ministry. His first wife was the late Florence Kiest, who died several years ago. Rev. Walter married again, his present, wife, Carrie, surviving him. Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kiest and Mrs. David Franzen, as well as a brother, Will Walter, preceded him in death. Besides the widow, survivors in the immediate family are three sons, Odis, a Presbyterian minister in Idaho; Victor, who formerly was a missionary to Africa but now has a pastorate in Ordway, Colo., and Earl, an athletic coach at Rawleigh, N. J., and two daughters, Violet, who teaches at an Eastern college; and Mabel, a member of the faculty at a college in Jack-sonville, Ill. A daughter, Edith, and a son, Hubert, preceded him in death. Walter avenue in Northbrook was named after the Walter family.
