Anna Marie Barnes, age 80, a lifelong resident of the Pulaski community died Sunday, April 2, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral home in Forest, with interment to follow the service in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery in Smith County. Bro. Bobby Boyles, Bro. Curtis Roland, and Bro. Aaron Woods will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5pm-8pm Tuesday, April 4, 2023, and again from 1pm-2pm on Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Marie was born on July 11, 1942, in Smith County to her parents Marshall Goodson and Anna Crout Goodson. She was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church and loved attending services until her health began to fail. She loved the Lord, and loved her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Marie also loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers, and helping others when needed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hugh Nile Barnes, a grandson, Gary DeWayne Barnes, brothers, Floyd Goodson, and Emmitt Goodson.

Survivors include her 3 children: Rose Harrison (Charles Ray), Gary Barnes (Linda), Shelia Sawyer (Bill), and brother Herbert Goodson. She also leaves a legacy of 7 grandchildren; Regina Vinzant, Jason Harrison (Jennifer), Judy Rayner, Greg Barnes (Bobbie Faith), Amanda Maddox (Brad), Amy Reiss (Regan), Melinda Dunn, Jonathan Sawyer (Hollie), and Tyler Sawyer (Aimee), and 14 great-grandchildren; Carlie, Cammie, Patrick, Harper, Maggie, Summer, Carsyn, Madeline, Cloey, Colby, and Kelsie, with another little girl on the way in May, and 2 great-great-grandchildren Hadley and Kayden.

Pallbearers are Greg Barnes, Colby Barnes, Jason Harrison, Brandin Batte, Robert Hallman, and David Goodson. Honorary pallbearers are David McLaurin, Austin Sanders, and Patrick Barnes.
