Edghar Franklin Glisson, age 86, a resident of Grand Ridge, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

He was born July 22, 1936, to Robbie Mae (Godfrey) and William Davis Glisson. He was brought into this world stubborn as a mule with a steel spine, and he carried this courage and strong will with him through his many travels across the country as a truck driver and famed hog hunter.

A farmer at his core, Edghar planted and grew his family with his wife of 65 years, Wilma Jean Glisson, and tended to it the same way. He could be found tending to his garden for endless hours: by planting seeds of connection and fostering growth through countless holiday meals, freely given fruits and vegetables, and hours on hours of back-porch conversation with an abundance of dry wit and honesty.

Edghar leaves behind a legacy of strong opinions, a giving heart, and fierce loyalty to those he loved. He is predeceased by both his mother, father, and brothers, James "Jim" Bryant Glisson, Bill Glisson, and Charles Glisson.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Glisson of Grand Ridge, FL; two daughters, Marilyn Proctor (Jerry) of Grand Ridge, FL, and Cheryl Baxley (Ricky) of Cypress, FL; his son, Dean Glisson (Judy) of Grand Ridge, FL; sister, Fannie L. Watkins of Bainbridge, GA; six grandchildren: Wendi Johnson (Brian), Josh Wagner, Michael Baxley, Chad Baxley (Brandy), Travis Glisson (April) and Wade Glisson; 15 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many other loving relatives, friends, and hunting partners.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Judy Glisson and Scott Basford officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, April 7, 2023 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.
