Chrystal Mae Fowler, age 90, of Electra, Texas passed away Friday evening, November 27, 2015, in the Electra Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at the First Baptist Church of Electra with Charles Nichols of Bowie, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in New Electra Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Chrystal was born March 23, 1925 in Electra to the late Alexander Sylvester Kerby and Lora Mae Walker Kerby.
She graduated from Electra High School and attended North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, Texas. She worked for Waggoner Refinery where she was a dispatcher.
She married the love of her life, Harvey Fowler, Jr., on January 24, 1948 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2003. Together they had two children, Bill and Chrystal Carol. She was a homemaker until her children were raised.
In 1971, she was employed by the Electra Independent School District as a teacher's aide until her retirement in 1990.
Chrystal was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Electra where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a wonderful cook, was very creative and enjoyed painting.
For almost two years, Chrystal was a resident of Electra Health Care Center where she was treated with respect and was loved by the staff and will be missed.
Survivors include one son, Bill Fowler of Lillian, Texas and one daughter, Chrystal Carol Olson and husband, Randy of Electra.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Electra Health Care Center, Resident Activity Fund, 511 South Bailey Street, Electra, Texas 76360.
Chrystal was a loving and devoted daughter, wife and mother. Her Christian faith shaped the woman she was and touched the lives of those around her. Raising her children in a Christian home made sure that they were taught the values that would lead and strengthen them throughout their life. She was a lovely, kind, giving woman that will be missed not only by her family, but by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
