J.T. was born J.Y. McAdams, Jr. on July 26, 1929 in Roxanna, Texas in Gray County to Ima and J.Y. McAdams. In 1947, he graduated from Claude High School with his future bride, Annie Luther. J.T. and Annie were married on September 23, 1950. They spent the next 72 years expanding their farming and ranching operation in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. J.T. was a dedicated farmer and rancher with a passion for running cattle.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Corethia Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Annie McAdams; a son, Jimmy McAdams and wife Jan of Amarillo; a daughter, Carol Smith of Amarillo; two sisters, Margaret Ward of Houston and Barbara Billups of Holton, KS; five grandchildren, Buck Babcock and wife Jill, Dustin Babcock and wife LeAnn all of Groom, TX, Tamara Cruz of Arlington, TX, Erin McAdams of Florida, and John McAdams and wife Soying of Thailand; eight great-grandchildren, Molly Babcock, Davis Babcock, Cutter Babcock, Jake Babcock, Brynlee Babcock, Kaleb McAdams, Kodi Bruton and Zedi Cruz; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to a favorite charity with acknowledgements sent to Annie McAdams or Carol Smith at PO Box 52246, Amarillo, TX 79159
