In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Donald Gammon; siblings, Esther, Belle, Grace, Sterling, George, Horace, Gene and Judy; and her granddaughter, Melissa Zamora.
She was born and raised in Wartrace, Tennessee and lived all over the country from the east to west coast. Her favorite place to live was Colorado; she loved the Rocky Mountains, trees, and the way the snow hit the mountains. She graduated from Morrison High School in Illinois and continued her college studies. In 1949, she took a job with the U.S. Navy Department in Washington, D.C. She was also employed as an Executive Assistant with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. She was proud to serve her country as a Navy WAVE during World War II.
On November 14, 1953, she married Alvin Donald Gammon. She met him at a dance during World War II while out with friends. He was impressed with her dance moves and offered her a dance.
Edith was stubborn and loyal but loved her family dearly. She was always there for those who needed her, even when she was going through things on her own. She loved Rafeal's pizza on Friday's while having movie night with family. She was strong in her faith and was a member of Green Mountain United Methodist Church in Lakewood, Colorado and attended First United Methodist Church in Tullahoma.
