Holly D. Cape-Haines was born on April 19, 1975 in Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of Gary Cape and Rose Shelton. Holly grew up in Dayton, Ohio and attended Turpin High School. She became a published poet when she was 15 years old.
She married David Haines on February 10, 1996 and they had a daughter, Gemma Haines. Later in life, she met Julio Martinez and together they had a son, Andres Martinez. Her children were the joy of her life. She spent her days as a homemaker raising her children, running a home daycare for her community and leading a Girl Scout Troop.
Holly loved watching crime shows, writing poetry and scrapbooking during her free time.
Holly entered into the loving arms of Jesus Christ at 10:00 P.M. on March 11, 2022, peacefully, at her home in Mesa, Arizona. This was the result of years on ongoing health issues, with the addition of COPD and MRSA of the lungs.
She is survived by her daughter, Gemma Haines; son, Andres Martinez; her father, Gary Cape; mother, Rose Shelton; sister, Belinda Gerald and aunt, Gloria Cape.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 317 South Locust Street, Edgerton, Ohio, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Edgerton next to her beloved grandparents, Paul and Dolores Cape.
Memorial donations are requested to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
