SHIELDS, GEORGE DUNCAN George Duncan Shields, born January 17, 1931, in Longview, Washington, died February 15, 2004, in Cannon Beach, Oregon. George graduated from Seaside High School and attended Oregon State University. He was active in American Legion Post 168, Evergreen Masonic Lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Elks. He was a Cannon Beach planning commission member, a two term Cannon Beach Councilman and president of the the Cannon Beach Historical Society. In their leisure time, George and his wife, Sue, enjoyed golf, fishing, friends, and traveling. George is survived by his wife, Sue Shields; daughters, Marianne Smithey, Patti Reed, and Susie Shields; stepsons, Louis Jarvis, Jim Jarvis, and Burt Jarvis; stepdaughter, Delia Jarvis; 14 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
A memorial celebration will be held on Friday, February 20, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., at Cannon Beach Presbyterian Church, 132 E. Washington, Cannon Beach, Oregon.
