Jean Ann Duncan, age 92, of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023. She was born December 20, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to William and Mary (Loftus) Steinmetz.

Jean, a graduate of St. Mary's High School, started working at RCA around 1950, as her husband (Richard) went to serve in the Korean War. After the war, she and Richard started a family and over time was the mother to five children. She continued to work at RCA and CNA while raising her children and one might say she was a "working mom" before the phrase became common place.

Jean was a devout catholic and worked hard so her children could receive a catholic education and spiritual foundation. She was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church for many years and later a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was active in church groups such as the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Bereavement Choir.

In her later years, Jean loved to travel with Richard across the United States and as far away as Europe. This included trips to Ireland, Scotland, England, Belgium, France, Germany and a tour of California. Jean and Richard called the east side of Indianapolis home for 55 years and Jean loved to sit out on the patio, drink coffee, smoke a cigarette and chat with her neighborhood friends. But most of all, Jean loved when her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren came for a visit. She was a gentle woman always there for her family, friends and church lending a helping, loving hand.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Duncan of 71 years; her brothers, William Steinmetz Jr and Thomas Steinmetz; her sisters, Ellen Naughton Cronin and Elizabeth Roseman. Jean is survived by her sister, Mary Hook; her children, Janet M. Hellman (James), Richard H. Duncan II (Lynda), Stephen R. Duncan (Kathy), William J. Duncan and Christopher D. Duncan (Monica). Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

A visitation for Jean will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church - 4650 Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Jean will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Indianapolis.
