He attended and graduated public schools in Rusk County. As a young man, he entered the United States Armed Forces, in which he served 4 years and received an honorable discharge.
He married Dorothy Lou Sibley and to this union, one child was born. He later married Ruby Jewel Williams and to this union three children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rosie B. Hightower, and Evelyn Sanders, and one brother, Rayford Adams.
A J worked for the United States Postal Service for over 25 years in Dallas, TX, and retired.
A J's favorite pastime was playing dominoes with anyone who would play with him, especially his sisters. He loved being with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Michael Dale Adams and James "Stink" Adams; two daughters, Vickie Adams (Nathan), and Carla Adams (Roy); one step son, Charles Westmoreland; three grandchildren, Victor Raven, Robert Raven, and James "JJ" Adams; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
