Mr. Hunter was born in Cherokee County but lived most of his life in Etowah County. He was married to his late wife Frances for 58 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Hunter was a carpenter by trade and worked as a home builder until retirement. He was a lifelong Auburn fan and an avid race car enthusiast and driver. His love of racing inspired generations of family members and friends. Several nephews and great nieces continue his legacy.
Mr. Hunter is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and numerous nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Hunter and Myrtice Hunter; sisters, Patricia Alford and Tina Gaskin (Allen); brothers, Gary Hunter and Allen Hunter (Becky); sisters-in-law Mary Ann Shirey (Bill) and Helen Williams (JR); and brother-in-laws, Billy Ray Oliver (Johnnie), Clarence (Booster) Martin Jr. (Glenda), Larry Martin, Robert Martin (Myra Fay) and Michael Martin.
Funeral services were April 20, 2023 at Collier-Butler Chapel. fCommittal service with military honors followed at Lebanon Cemetery, Coates Bend.
