On August 17, 1969, in Sedalia, MO, he was united in marriage and she survives.
George was raised on a farm south of Green Ridge. He attended all twelve years of school at Green Ridge and graduated in 1966. George graduated from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, in 1970 with a degree in Agricultural Business. He worked for Farmland Industries in Kansas City until 1973, when the family moved to Plainview, TX. He was General Manager/CEO/CFO of United Farm Industries in Plainview for 34 years before retiring in 2015. He was an honorary Hale County FFA member for all his years, serving as Treasurer of the Hale County stock show. He was President of the Texas Ag Coop Council and President of the Plainview Country Club for nine years. He was elected Texas State Cooperator of the Year. In addition, he served on several committees for the First United Methodist Church in Plainview, TX. George enjoyed trout fishing in Branson with family, playing golf, and especially loved spoiling his grandchildren, as well as his nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, George is survived by a daughter, a son, four grandchildren; a great-grandson, three brothers a sister, and his brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Sedalia, with Rev. Dr. Chad McMullin and Rev. John Streit officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the church.
Burial will be at Green Ridge Cemetery, Green Ridge, MO.
