A visitation is scheduled from 4 to 6 pm Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Wayne was born August 8, 1939, to Robert and Lois Cessna, attended Hardin, TX schools where he was valedictorian in 1957, graduated Baylor University with a BA in 1961 where he was a member of honor societies Alpha Chi for being in the top 10% of his class, Psi Chi for psychology and Alpha Kappa Delta in sociology where he served as president. He completed the LSU School of Banking of the South in 1971.

He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville where, over the years, he served as chairman or member of several committees and was a long-time supporter of building the new facility.

Wayne was co-founder/owner of American Data Service, United Directories, and GFI, and believed all three were successful because he was blessed with the best and most caring employees in the world! Wayne was co-founder and treasurer of Jacksonville Triangle Corp. whose sole purpose is to make a reasonable building available for AA and Al-Anon; was three times the drive chairman for the United Fund of Cherokee County where he also served as president and then director for many years, developed the United Fund Operations Manual in 2002 and in 2019 designed the software system now used for recordkeeping; was a director and president of the East Texas Baylor Club and a director of the Baylor Bear Foundation. He really enjoyed being a member of the Kiwanis Club of Jacksonville where he served as president, director and was three times chosen as Kiwanian of the year. He was a member as well as a director of the Lake Jacksonville Association where in 2011 he designed the software system, website and Facebook page which he enjoyed managing for many years. Wayne loved living at the lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lois Cessna, brother, Jerry Michael Cessna, and son, Hoyt Cessna.

Left to cherish Wayne's memory are his son, Chad Cessna and wife Virgie of Burleson; daughter, Julie Terry and husband Todd of Jacksonville; sister in-law, Glynda Cessna of Nacogdoches; and special friend, Sandra May of Shreveport. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Cody Cessna, Cade Cessna, Adam Cessna, Janzen Terry High, Cullen Cessna, and Toby Terry.

Pallbearers are Cade Cessna, Adam Cessna, Cody Cessna, Ricky Russel, Zane McDonald, and Cullen Cessna. Honorary pallbearer is Kraig Harvey.
