Dick Edward Esckelson was born in Vassar, MI on October 12, 1933 to the late Chris M. and Izora M. (Cole) Esckelson. He passed away on April 20, 2023 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper, Saginaw. He married Thelma D. Lokatys on June 20, 1981 and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2023. Dick retired from Eaton/Grede Foundry. He was a member of the Eagles Club, the Polish American Club and the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by 4 children: Judy (Tim) Woern, Rich (Kathy) Esckelson, Bill Esckelson and friends Libby and Dorothy (Tim) Greenwood, a sister-in-law Betty Esckelson, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick was the last of 9 siblings.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main Street, Vassar. Pastor Tony Barber will officiate with burial following at Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service begins.
