Eugene Luther "Gene" Brown
1939 - 2023
VETERAN
Eugene Luther "Gene" Brown passed away in the evening of April 23, 2023, at the age of 84, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, after a brief stay at Mission Alpine Care Center. Eugene was born in Lewistown, Montana, on February 22, 1939, to his parents, Eugene Luther and Edna Mae Klinger Brown.
Gene had a love of music and singing Karaoke, which he shared with his caregivers with recording he made in years past. Gene was a star athlete in Columbia Falls, Montana, while growing up. Sports became the center of his life and stayed that way his whole life. Gene also served honorably in the United States Army at the Pentagon for two years as a cryptologist.
His working years included time with large insurance companies, and later, having his own agency. He also spent many hours on ball fields working as an umpire. Gene was an accomplished fastpitch softball pitcher and sponsored and coached many great teams that were very competitive. He developed a unique process for sports plaques and awards that he sold. Gene's sense of humor will be greatly missed. He had a love for his Savior Jesus Christ and has finally joined his family and his dog, Bo, that he has missed for so many years.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, two older sisters, Betty and Donna; and also his younger brother, Michael. He is survived by his younger sister, Sandy.
Many thanks go out to the staff of the facility for their compassionate service and care for Gene. He was well thought of by the staff and by his CNS hospice care team.
It was Eugene's wishes to be cremated and that no services would be held. His remains will be interred at Utah State Veterans Memorial Park.
