Obituary
Elmer Everett Acheson, 95 of Allerton passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Westview Acres Care Center, Leon, IA.

Everett was born to Elmer Ellsworth and Myrtle Anne (Fortune) Acheson on Sept. 13, 1927, in Allerton, IA at his family farm.

During Everett*s elementary years, his familypurchased another family farm in Utica, MO and lived there for a few years. Everett's father moved the family back to the home farm at Allerton. Some of Everett*s childhood memories are remembering when mail was delivered by horse and buggy. He also remembers the first tractor his Dad purchased and pulled up to a gate and said *Whoa* but forgot to put on the brakes and drove right through the gate.

During Everett*s high school years, he played on the basketball team and helped his father farm. He graduated from the Allerton High School in 1946.

After graduation, Everett moved to Washington, DC where he worked for the FBI. Later, he chose to return to a farming partnership with his father on the home place.

Everett married Mary Lou Binford on March 30, 1950, at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Allerton, IA. Five children were born to this union. They are Connie Jean, Donald Everett, Ricky Raymond, Dale Elmer, and Sheri Lou. Everett and Mary Lou celebrated 73 years of marriage in 2023. They rented a home near his family farm where he continued to farm with his dad. When Everett*s parents retired and moved into Allerton, Everett & Mary Lou, purchased the family farm and reside there to this day.

Everett and Mary Lou worked together farming, raising cattle and custom baling. They operated a Vermeer Baler & Implement dealership that covered a wide area in Iowa and Missouri for 23 years. They continued to farm, raising cattle, horses, and goats. Everett & Mary Lou enjoyed traveling, water skiing, camping, and spending time with their family.

Everett accepted the Lord as his personal Savior in 1954. His salvation became the backbone of his life and for raising their children. They joined the Assembly of God church and over the years Everett served as a church board member, Sunday school superintendent, Adult Sunday school teacher and led and taught many Wednesday night services.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Myrtle Acheson, sister Erma McNeiley (Bob), sister Twyla Ewing (Donald), a grandson Joshua Dean Trent, brother-in-law Garold Kint.

Everett is survived by his wife Mary Lou and their five children and their spouses: Connie Goodin (Tom) of Derby, IA; Donald Acheson (Nancy) of Lineville, IA; Ricky Acheson (Janet) of Mystic, IA; Dale Acheson (Madeline) of Urbandale, IA and Sheri Trent (Brad) of Unionville, MO; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren, his sister Ruby Kint of Des Moines, IA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
