Amos Norcross, Retired Farmer, Buried at Dayton
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Amos Franklin Norcross, 71-year-old retired farmer of Dayton. Burial was in Lunney Cemetery at Dayton.
Mr. Norcross, who was born at Cooks Point in Burleson County, was well known by practically every resident in the Dayton area. Both he and Mrs. Norcross have been flower fanciers for many years and made it a practice to bring large baskets of blossoms to town, where they gave them away to local residents.
The retired truck farmer was one of the leading members of the First Methodist Church. Rev. C. W. Faulk, pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. J. J. Jordan of Baytown, officiated at the funeral services.
Mr. Norcross had been a resident of Dayton for 40 years.
Survivors include his widow; three sons, Milton and Walter, both of Dayton, and Carl of Hull; four sisters, Mrs. O. H. Coleman of Dayton, Mrs. Ted Miller of Midland, Mrs. Estelle Mayes of Lorraine, Mrs. H. H. Hanson of Houston; a brother, S. O. Norcross of Bryan; a half-brother, Rev. Cleo Norcross of Lubbock; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were C. W. Kennedy, Dick Shanks, Marion Shanks, Bade McHugh, Theron Robinson and Rev. Jordan.
