Ted was born Dec. 7, 1946, in Mineral Wells, the son of Raymond and Ruth Ray. He lived in Palo Pinto County his entire life. He married Beth Bryan on June 13, 1980, in San Antonio.
Ted owned and operated a trucking company, two wrecking yards and a heavy equipment company in Palo Pinto County. He completed several contracts for the federal government.
He had been a rancher for the past 16 years, running cattle both in Palo Pinto County and Throckmorton County. The job he loved most of all was serving Palo Pinto County as Precinct 1 county commissioner.
He was a member of the Palo Pinto County Sheriff's Posse and served as captain in 2007.
He served in the Army and continued his service in the Reserve for six additional years.
Ted was also a member of the Mineral Wells American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ray; mother, Ruth Ray; four sisters; and one brother.
Survivors: Wife, Beth Ray; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Doug Wood of Millsap; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Amy Bryan of Patillo and Kevin and Tessica Bryan of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Skyler Wood, Kyndra Wood, Kramer Bryan, Kaitlyn Bryan, Jett Bryan and Jake Bryan; great-grandson, Carter Lovelace; sisters, Maxine Tucker, Sandra Bush and Bobbie Irving of Mineral Wells, Sue Dement and Jackie Deaton of Bridgeport and Alene Bagwell of Stanford.
