Ellen Marie Zimmerman Mingle
Ellen Marie Zimmerman Mingle, 76, of Valdese, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Brian Center East in Hickory, following a period of declining health.
Mrs. Mingle was born on May 5, 1931, in Burke County to the late Horace Zimmerman and Bertha Bradshaw Zimmerman.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Abee's Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Travison.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Mingle of the home; her son, Brent Eugene Powell of Tucson, Ariz.; her brother, Joe Zimmerman of Raleigh; her sister, Virginia Lail of Valdese; her granddaughter, Jessica Travison of Valdese; her grandson, Brent Eugene Powell Jr.; a great-grandson, Tanner Isiah Powell; and a stepson, Michael James Mingle and wife, Namsuk, of the U.S. Army in Iraq.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Abee's Grove Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Gregory Burnette.
Interment will follow at Abee's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese. Memorial contributions may be made to Annie Armstrong Easter Offering, c/o Abee's Grove Baptist Church 654 Abee's Grove Church Rd. Valdese, NC 28690.
