"Joe" joined the Navy on Oct. 9, 1947 and was discharged on Dec. 3, 1958. He served on the following ships: USS Albany (CA-123), USS Earl B. Hall (APD-107), USS Shelikof (AVP-53), USS Lloyd (APD-63), USS John S. Mc Cain (DL-3), USS William R. Rush (DDR-714). While in the Navy he received the following Medals & Awards: China Service Medal, Navy Occupation ("A" Clasp), Navy Good Conduct (2nd Award), Purple Heart, Predidential Unit Citation, National Defense, United Nations, Korean Service Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Occupation ("E" Clasp), Bronz star (V).
