Harriet E. Brooks, of Easton, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Carroll, Jr., on Thursday evening, April 5, 2001. She was 82.

Born near Trappe, April 27, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George and Nannie Belle Griffin Stevens. After graduating from Easton High School in 1935, she, in February of 1936, married John O. Brooks, Sr., a Talbot County farmer. They lived and farmed in Talbot County, of which over 40 years were spent on the Melrose Farm near Easton. Mr. Brooks died on March 13, 1987.

A lifelong resident of Talbot County, she was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Easton and the Ladies of the Elks, Easton Lodge #1622. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Phyllis B. Carroll and Virginia B. Davis, both of Easton; a son, John O. Brooks, Jr. of Easton; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A grandson, Kevin Brooks Carroll, died in 1970 and a great-grandson, Norman Lonnie Davis 111, died in 1987.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10th, at 2 p.m. at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.
