Donald was son of Marshall and Lucille Barrett.(also buried here and listed on FAG) as are his paternal great grandparents Daniel Barrett Sr. and Prudence McFarlin.(also Orvis Barrett, his grandfather, and Mayme Ella Kaulk Barrett-Trout (his grandmother who remarried after Orvis' death to Jim Trout.-all listed here and in this cemetery.)
Brother of Reverend John Barrett,(NYC) Thomas(Glencoe,Ill.) and Cynthia( Conn.)
He was the youngest of the boys and the first to die. He was older than Cindy.
Don was also grandson of Elsie Reginka Austgen and John Austgen(also buried here and listed on FAG) who owned Austgen Storage and Express in Chicago Heights from the 1920's- 1970's. The also had offices in many States.
Don always did things his way. He loved fishing for Muskie in Wisconsin. His grandfather, John Austgen built a cabin on Annabelle Lake in Presque Isle Wisconsin, during The Great Depression. His brother Tom, bought it back from whomever owned it,and he and Don continued to fish Annabelle Lake. It was at this cabin that Don died in 2003. Some of his ashes are in his beloved Annabelle Lake as well as on the mantle of this cabin.A graduate of Hamden High school,Hamden,Conn.
He attended college in Eugene and Corvallis, Oregon. He was an inventor and held several U.S. Patents. Don became a Real Estate Broker and Investor,and was retired at the time of his death.
He was married twice and had no children.
