Track and Field Athlete. She was an American Olympic gold medalist and world champion Sprinter. She primarily competed in the long jump, 100, and 200 meters. Bowie competed for the University of Southern Mississippi in the long jump and was a two-time NCAA Division I champion, winning both outdoor and indoor competitions in 2011. After the 2014 World Indoor Championships, where she competed in the long jump, she switched her focus to sprints. In 2014, she set two new personal records in the 100m and 200m dash events at the IAAF Diamond League Championship. She won a silver medal in the 100m and a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2016 Rio Olympics, bronze and gold medals in the 100m and the 2015 and 2017 World Championships, and also earned gold medals as part of the U.S. women's 4x100 relays at both the 2016 Olympic Games and 2017 World Championships in London. She passed away in her home unexpectedly at the age of 32 from complications of childbirth.
