A native and life-long resident of Fitchburg, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Bridget (O'Connor) O'Connor. Stricken as she left her home at 28 Daniels Heights, she was dead on arrival at Burbank Hospital. She was active in United Spanish War Veterans organizations and was a first lieutenant in the Daughters of 98; USWV, Fort 62 of Fitchburg; past president of the MA Dept. Auxiliary USWV, past president of the Charlotte Guild Auxiliary, USWV, and a first lieutenant in the National Chapter, Daughters of 98, USWV.
She was a social worker for the Fitchburg Welfare Department, having retired in 1955 after 28 years of service.
Survivors include a sister, Josephine M. O'Connor of Fitchburg, a niece, Janice B. O'Connor and a nephew, John T. O'Connor, both of New Canaan, CT.
The funeral was held from the Smith Funeral Home with a solemn high mass in St. Bernard's Church.
