Donald Lehman Resident of Pinole Donald Lehman passed away March 4, 2008 at his home in Pinole, CA, at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty; children, Dennis (Carol), Tommy (Patti), Debra, and her daughter Mariessa; grandsons, Damien, Dante, David and Dustin; and many great-grandchildren. He was born in Ipswich, SD, the youngest of 10 children. After graduating high school in Aberdeen, SD, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. In 1950, during his tour of duty with the Air Force in Alaska, he and Betty married in Anchorage. He was a Police Officer in Aberdeen, SD, for 10 years before moving to CA in 1960. Don loved playing baseball in his youth, and was proud to have been instrumental in the growth of the Pinole/Hercules Little League, and worked with them for 11 years. He worked for Durkee's Famous Foods, before retiring from Mills College in 1990. He and Betty loved traveling the U.S. in their RV. Don was also known as being the "handyman" of the family. Don loved his evenings with his dogs Pepper and Shoogee, and they miss their buddy. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, March 15 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pinole, 16550 San Pablo Ave. He will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon, CA, on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 promptly at 1 p.m., for those who would like to attend.
