Amelia Kate Lais (nee Rowland) passed away on April 17, 2023, at the age of 88, in Albany, Ore. Born in Little Rock, Ark., on November 11, 1934, to Elmo Leon and Annie Dora Rowland, she was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Daniel Lais; as well as two brothers: David Elmo and Robert Hodge Rowland.

Amelia is survived by sons, Geoff (Albany, Ore.), and Alan (Yuma, Ariz.) Barnes; her grandchildren, Amanda Barnes (Yuma, Ariz.) and James Barnes (Austin, Texas), and her great-grandson, Christopher Barnes (Yuma, Ariz.).

Amelia was very service-oriented and loved to give to others. She volunteered often in the community she called home. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She also enjoyed knitting and cooking.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Mennonite Village, 5353 Columbus Street SE, Albany, Ore., 93722. Memorials are not requested.
