Gandy Charles J, 21, was killed less than a mile from his home when he was thrown from his car as it smashed into a tree on State Road 9 south of Merriam. He was the son of Max Gandy, principal of the Columbia City Joint High School. A graduate of Wolf Lake High School and discharged from the Navy in 1962, he had been employed at the International Harvester in Fort Wayne. Surviving are the parents at R. 2, Albion; a sister, Mrs. James Elser, also R. 2; and the grandparents. Services Friday in Christian Chapel. Burial, Christian Chapel Cemetery
