Obituary – Rev. EVERETT LEE WINFREY

Everett was born on February 24, 1913, the second son and second child of nine born to James Warren Winfrey and Jessie Mae (Biggs) Winfrey. He lived with his parents on their farm north of Burlington, Kit Carson County, Colorado until his marriage.

On February 20, 1932, Everett married Hallie Lucille Miser who was raised on a neighboring farm and was teaching school at Happy Hollow, Kit Carson County, Colorado. In the fall of 1947, Everett surrendered to the ministry, joining a heritage of Winfrey Baptist ministers stretching back over 200 years. After obtaining additional training at Faith Bible Academy, Camdenton, MO and Tennessee Temple Schools, Chattanooga, TN, he pastored 11 churches in 9 states over the next 35 years, until retiring due to health problems in 1983. He then became a faithful member of Bible Baptist Church, Puyallup, WA and faithfully served in many different capacities, never missing a Sunday service.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, James Clifton, Virgil Edward, Raymond Allen and Floyd Duane and 2 sisters, Iva Mae Barnhart and Mabel Lillian Davis.
