Mr. Barnes died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at his home.
He was born Aug. 8, 1939, in Rolla, Mo. He lived near Cassoday for the past 10 years. He was a former resident of Wichita.
Mr. Barnes worked in building construction in Wichita. He was a member of Union 1290.
He married Elva Gizzle Jay on Dec. 16, 1989, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Eveart Jr., Baldwin City, and John, Pomona; two daughters, Diana Kreusch, Pomona, and Debbie Phillips, Wichita; a stepdaughter, Marsha Nixon, Cassoday; two stepsons, Don and Ricky Houghton, both of Wichita; two brothers, Lee, Kansas City, Kan., and Johnny, Lawrence; five sisters, Virgie Farmer, Eudora, Jenny Barnes, Lawrence, Kay Apper, Lawrence, Patsy Bailey, Mayetta, and Linda Buckins, Georgia; and 12 grandchildren.
