=================================
Leo Soukup was married to Dorothy Helen Pettinger Soukup. Though born in Detroit, Michigan, as a child, he grew up on a ranch near Cheyenne, Wyoming where one day he shot and killed a bear at the back door of his home. As a teenager he moved to the northern side of Chicago where he attended and graduated from New Trier H.S. Before he married, he worked as a logger in the Northwestern United States, especially Oregon and Washington.

Leo's father was Joseph Soukup who emigrated from the Prague area of what is not the Czech Republic. His mother died shortly after he was born. Leo had a brother, Richard, who died about a year before Leo was born. There were no other siblings.

Leo graduated from Northwestern University as a pharmacist. Because he had a pierced ear drum he was not drafted into the service during WW II. During WW II he was a pharmacist in Miami Beach. More than once he saw U. S. ships burning off the coast of Florida after they had been hit by torpedoes from German submarines.

He delighted in traveling, and he made several long-distance vacations from Florida to tour the West whose grandeur he loved so much. His travel included in living in different locations, so the family lived in Chicago, Miami, Tampa, Riviera Beach, Orlando, Titusville, Punta Gorda, and finally Okeechobee, Florida.

Leo and his wife Dorothy had three children: Earle Richard Leo, Dorothy Helen, and Arthur Raymond.
