Patsy Lou Holzschuh was born March 21, 1947, in Oelwein, Fayette County, the daughter of Harold and Matilda (Klein) Holzschuh and died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at her home in Greene after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was united in marriage to Bill McBurney, August 1965, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greene.

Patsy made her home in Greene where she was employed by Lois Upholstery. Later she was employed by the Butler County Engineer's Office in Allison and finally for Principal Financial Group in Mason City, where she was honored for 25 years of service on May 24, 2007.

Patsy was united in marriage to Galen Hoodjer, July 29, 1993, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene.

She was involved in the Foreign Exchange Student Program. Patsy was very family oriented considering her eight children her "hobby". She was involved in her children's activities and was a proud spectator at their sporting events. Patsy loved flowers, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed visiting with friends. She especially loved her trips to Hawaii with Galen.

Survivors include her husband Galen of Greene, three children: Shelly (Dean) Jensen, Lori (Brent) VanWyk, Brian (Holly Schoville) McBurney all of Greene; six grandchildren: Kylie Jensen, Zachary Jensen, Kinser Jensen, Chloe Jensen, Libby Van Wyk, Holli Van Wyk; five step-children: Corey (Sarah) Hoodjer of West Des Moines, Mandy (Justin) Burns of Gilman, Kelly (Jennifer Rushing) Hoodjer of Greene, Amy (Eric Updegraff) Hoodjer of Walnut, Lindsey (Jay Campbell) Hoodjer of Marshalltown; two foreign exchange children: Carola Schmidt of Berlin, Germany, and Catalina Chevez of Bogota, Colombia; three sisters: Francine Albrecht of Mason City, Judy Ellingson of Plano, TX, Paulette Haley of California; one brother: Gary Holzschuh of FL; several nieces and nephews.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Matilda (Klein) Holzschuh.

Funeral services for Patsy Hoodjer, 60, of 735 North Second Street, Greene, were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Greene with Pastor Gary Hatcher officiating. Burial was in Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville at 1 p.m.

Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Reid's Funeral Chapel, 519 North First Street, Greene, where there was a public Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation was also on Thursday at the church one hour before services.

Those expressing sympathy directed memorials to the Patsy Hoodjer Memorial Fund in care of the family, 735 N. Second St. Greene, IA, 50636.
