Asheville- Jerome "Bud" E. Holcombe 72, of 22 Thompson Road, died Sunday May 21,2000 at Mission St. Joseph Health Care System after a brief illness.

A native of Haywood County, he had lived most of his life in Buncombe County. He had retired from Ecusta Paper Mill after 38 years of service. He was a Korean conflict Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was the son of the late Alonzo Howard and Dora Penland Holcombe.

Surving are his wife of 49 years, Caryl Young Holcombe; daughters Mitzi Holcombe of the home and Karen Wilde and her husband Eddie of Candler;sons, Joey Holcombe of the home and Michael Holcombe and his wife Tonya of Canton; brother Perry Holcombe Sr. of Candler; granddaughters, Jessica Holcombe and Danielle Wilde, grandsons, Jamie Wilde, Joshua Holcombe and Jacob Holcombe.

The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Ander-Rice Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Keith Holcombe, Bobby Smith and Tim Lee officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Keith Holcombe, Eddie Holcombe, Perry Holcombe Jr. and John Washburn.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
