Caryann D. Allan, 88, changed her address permanently when she went home to be with the Lord on August 5th in Ocala, FL.
She is survived by her five children—Sons: Billy Allan (Marie), Bob Allan (Beth), Roger Allan, and daughters: Janice Anderson all of Ocala, Florida, and Beth Yerby (Terry) of Jacksonville, Florida; 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and her brother Mann Davis of Sylva, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Bill Allan, who passed away in 2021, and her parents, Gregg and Gertrude Davis.
Caryann was born and raised in Miami, FL. After graduating from Miami High, she moved to Tallahassee to become a Seminole at Florida State University. It was there she met her husband. After graduating from college, she went on to be an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. She taught school in Chattanooga, TN, Sarasota, Oneco, and Ocala, FL. She loved teaching and was an outstanding elementary school teacher. She also enjoyed teaching children's Sunday school where she had the opportunity to share her knowledge and love for the Lord with many.
After she retired from teaching school, Caryann went on to work at the Ocala Public Library and helped to run the family-owned business, Oakcrest Hardware, for many years.
Caryann was part of the Gideons auxiliary. She went to numerous locations to pass out New Testaments at high school and college graduations, and Bibles to the approved places.
Caryann loved to play the piano. She began taking lessons as a child and continued playing throughout her life. Playing the piano became a huge part of her identity and something she truly loved to do. She taught piano lessons to countless children. She served her church, Highlands Baptist, by playing the piano for many years.
Besides playing the piano, her love for reading was near the top of her list of things to do. It was very rare to find her without a book in hand. She always wanted to be ready if she had a free moment!
But her greatest love was definitely her family. She loved her husband fiercely. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren—always making time to hear about their lives. Whenever any one of them would walk into a room that she was in, her face would light up and she could not be happier. She was loved by so many and no one will ever truly know each of the lives that she impacted.
Her memorial service will be held at Highlands Baptist Church in Ocala, Florida on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Visitation to see the family will be at 10:00am and the service at 11:00am.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baldwin Brothers Heritage Place Chapel, 954 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Suite 200, Ocala, Florida 34470. PH: 352-236-5884.
