Margaret was a 1950 graduate of Nashua High School, earned a teaching degree and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Iowa. She later trained to be an airline reservationist, which took her to San Francisco. There she married Joseph Isakson on August 12, 1955. They settled in South and North Dakota and raised their children.
In 1989, Margaret moved to Maine. One of her most meaningful positions was as Activities Director at Camden Nursing Home. She also worked at the Surroundings store and spent 21 winters in Mesa, Arizona.
Margaret was grateful for God's love and guidance throughout her life, her parents, wonderful friends, church communities, travels, nature's beauty, education and employment at different occupations. Her unwavering love and support for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was a huge part of her life.
Margaret had a soft spot for anyone who suffered, and she believed in making a positive impact in the world. She was an avid reader who cared about events beyond the sphere of her life. She spoke up about her faith and values and loved to share stories of her life, often recording her memories with paper and pen.
Over her life she took many opportunities to learn and better herself. She nurtured friendships, both old and new, and built strong ties with her family in Germany. Margaret was courageous and caring through her illness, an example to us all.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Emil and Sophie Silber of Nashua; and her three brothers: Eitel (Shirley), John and Gordon Silber.
She is survived by her children:
Karen (Buck) Deines of Salem, Oregon
Elaine Isakson of Rockland
Kathleen (Mark) Sheets of Rapid City, South Dakota
Paul Isakson of Washington, D.C.
grandchildren: Kaia (Jans) Carlson, Justus Sheets and Jordan (Kendra) Sheets, Jessica Isakson, Wesley (Avonlea) and Jeremiah (Sarah) Deines
seven great grandchildren
other dear family and friends
Her passing leaves a huge void, but she is at peace with the Lord she loved so much. Memorials may be sent to John Street United Methodist Church at 98 John St., Camden, Maine.
