Robert "Bob" Foster passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 8, 2023. Bob was born in Columbus on September 30, 1941 to the late Gordon Foster and Eleanor (Hayes) Foster. He was preceded in death by sisters Marjorie and Rita.
He will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Linda (Lash) Foster, sons William and Allan, daughter-in-law Jessica, (Allan), beloved triplet grandsons, Cameron, Crew, and Miles. He will also be missed by his sister Mary Wollam, brother Allan (Linda) and his sister-in-law Gail (Terry) Requardt and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was a graduate of Grandview Heights High School, Class of 1959, The Ohio State University, class of 1967, and Franklin Law School of Capital University, class of 1973.
Bob began his working career at age 10 selling newspapers and programs on the OSU oval before football games. He also caddied at Brookside Country Club.
After hitch hiking to San Francisco, he joined the U.S. Army at 17 and was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Later, while a police officer for the City Of Columbus, he worked nights and attended OSU in the day. Upon graduation in accounting he worked for Ernst and Ernst and Arthur Anderson accounting firms.
During his law career he worked for the Franklin County Court of Appeals, the City Prosecutor, and spent twenty –five years as a Franklin County Public Defender.
Bob enjoyed hiking and the out of doors, playing bridge at the Westerville Senior Center, photography, and drinking coffee with his buddies while telling stories about the adventures of his triplet grandsons.
As a tribute to Bob, spend some time in the out-of-doors with your family followed by a visit to your favorite doughnut shop.
Family will receive friends on Friday, April 21st from 2:30-4:30 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church,1450 E Dublin Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43229 with a memorial service to honor Bobs life at 4:30.
