THE TOMB
At Wellington, Lafayette county, Mo., June 18, at theresidence of her son, Mr Zach W. Wright, Mrs. MARY E., relict of the late Richard Wright, aged 78 years.
Mrs. Wright was born in Faquier county Va., October 27, 1808. She moved with her parents to Green county, Ky., when she was six or seven years old. In 1826 she married Richard Wright. In 1856 they moved to Missouri, landing in Lafayette county on Easter Day. Twelve children were born to them, of whom but four survive--Lydia, wife of Enos Atteberry; Mary A., wife of Wm. Linebach; Ellen, widow of Jas. Holmes, and Zach W. Wright, the son with whom she has spent her declining days, surrounded with every comfort that love and affection could provide. Mrs. Wright was in everything an exemplary woman. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother. At fifteen years of age she made a profession of her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and united herself with the Methodist church, since which time she has ever led an exalted Christian life. A mother in Israel, with most of her heart's life in Paradise, with her duties here accomplished, and with a well spent life recorded to her credit, she has gone to her reward.
Life’s labor done, as sinks the clay,
Light from its load the spirit flies,
While heaven and earth combine to say,
"How blest the righteous when he dies!"
