Loretta Katherine Johnson, age 98, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, passed away on Jan 15, 2001 at Mt. Olivet Home. Loretta was born on Apr. 3, 1902. She was the youngest of 8 children born to Joseph and Mary Berberich of Springfield, MN. Loretta married David Henry Johnson In 1920. The couple farmed and resided in rural southern MN where they raised their 4 daughters. In 1960 they moved to Mpls. In Mpls, Loretta was employed as a cashier at Loop Drug Store, and also in currency exchange at N.W. Bank. Prior to retirement, she was employed in the bookkeeping dept. of Powers Dept. Store for 6 years. Loretta and David moved to the Elliot Twins Senior Apts in 1974. Loretta was Vice President of their organizations for years and was involved with "Project Lookout," "Project I'm OK," surplus commodity distribution and other activities. She loved to bake. Her cakes and pies were enjoyed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; her sister and 6 brothers and also by sons-in-law, Darwin Neal and Bill Plott. She is survived by daughters, Darlene (Robert) Hanson, Lois Plott, Myrtle Neal, and Marge Murry; 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren & 9 great great grandchildren. Service Thursday, 10 am at Morris Nilsen Chapel, 6527 Portland Ave S. Interment Springfield, MN. Visitation Wednesday, 6-8 pm.
