Lawrence Dean Allen, 78, of Newton, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Carolina Caring.

He was born April 4, 1945 in Mitchell County to the late William Olson Allen and Mary McKinney Allen.

Lawrence was a member of Apostolic Tabernacle Church in Newton and retired as a technician in the textiles industry. He loved traveling to the mountains, sitting by the creek, and loved his wife and family.

I thank the Lord for my dad. He worked hard and taught me the same work ethics. He was a church going man who loved his family and the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ was known in his home. He was stern when he needed to be, kind and forgiving on the other side. His wise words and wit are marked and will be sorely missed by all that know him. He will forever be in my heart. (Words from his son, Bo Allen)

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Allen; and sister, Sue Sparks.

Those left to cherish his memory are;

Son: Gary Allen and wife Bernice of Hickory

Daughters: Bobbie Jean Prater of Hickory

Frances Prater of Hickory
