Former Anchorage resident Rhae "Nana" T. Hockema, 81, died of natural causes Feb. 28 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, Calif. A funeral was at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel in Hughson, Calif.
Ms. Hockema was born April 27, 1912, in Georgia, and had lived in Modesto for the past 15 years. She lived in Anchorage from 1972 to 1976. She was a day-care provider and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ms. Hockema is survived by her sons, Steven Burch Butterfield of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dann Burch Butterfield of Modesto; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Burial was in Acacia Memorial Park in Modesto.
