Martha Lee Groseclose Yount has been reunited with her parents in Heaven. She passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday, March 19, 2022 after spending her last few hours with those she loved most: her husband Gary who adored her for almost 50 years and has been by her side through thick and thin, along with their two children, Justin and Sarah, who made sure she knew she was loved deeply.

A memorial service for Martha is scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. Rev. John Futterer will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 12:45 pm Saturday at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church Commons.

She was born in Bristol, VA on March 26, 1949, to Malcolm Giffert Groseclose, Jr. and Eloise Coffey Groseclose.

Martha had a love of photography, music, fountain pens, and camping. She enjoyed collecting cameras and pens. She also loved going on camping trips with her husband Gary and children. She was also a loving Sunday school teacher and when she was in better health, she played guitar with the Contemporary worship ensemble at church.

She graduated from Virginia High School then went to college at Montreat Anderson College and graduated from Lenior Rhyne College with a double major in Christian Education and Sociology. She began her ministry at Kimball Lutheran Church in Kannapolis, NC and then Haven Lutheran Church in Salisbury, NC. She began her career in insurance and investments in 1985 winning awards that allowed to her to travel with her family. She would have celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary to the love of her life and her rock, Gary on June 10th.

She is reunited in heaven with her parents, grandparents, many aunts, uncles, and friends who passed before her.

Those who will miss her dearly are her husband, Gary; two children, Justin Yount of Florida, and Sarah Harmon and husband Scott of Kannapolis; her grandson, Brayden Yount of Florida; brother, Mike Groseclose and wife Shirley of Florida; sister, Kathy Groseclose and wife Laura of Charlotte; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
